Frequently asked questions
Handmade with Intention
Pearl and Stone is an independently owned jewelry studio where every piece is personally designed and handcrafted by me from start to finish in my California workshop. Nothing is mass produced, outsourced, or manufactured in bulk. Every design begins as an original idea and is brought to life by hand using carefully selected gemstones, quality materials, and traditional metalsmithing techniques.
From forging and fabrication to the final polish and packaging, every piece passes through my hands with care and intention. My goal has always been to create jewelry that feels personal, meaningful, and made to last.
When you purchase from Pearl and Stone, you're supporting an independent artist and investing in original craftsmanship rather than factory-made jewelry. You'll also receive something that large retailers can't offer, a direct connection to the person who designed and created your jewelry. Whether you have a question before your purchase or need assistance afterward, you'll always be communicating directly with me.
Because every piece is individually handcrafted using precious materials and many hours of skilled craftsmanship, my studio policies reflect the nature of a handmade, independently operated business. While I do not offer refunds, I gladly accept eligible exchanges or returns for store credit. If there is ever a problem with your order, please don't hesitate to contact me at info@pearlandstone.com. I genuinely want you to love your jewelry and will always do my best to find a far and thoughtful solution.
Before placing your order, I encourage you to read each listing carefully, including measurements, materials, gemstone details, and processing times. If you have any questions, I'm always happy to help. I'd much rather answer your questions beforehand so you can purchase with complete confidence.
Thank you for supporting handmade artistry, original design, and small business. Your support allows me to continue creating jewelry one piece at a time, with the same care and attention that goes into every design.

MATERIALS
Yes. I use genuine natural gemstones whenever possible. Because every gemstone is unique, slight differences in color, pattern, and inclusions are completely natural and make every piece one of a kind.
14K gold filled jewelry has a thick layer of genuine 14K gold permanently bonded to a jeweler's brass core. It contains significantly more gold than gold plated jewelry, making it highly durable and ideal for everyday wear.
Gold filled jewelry is designed to last for many years with proper care. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine, salt water, lotions, perfumes, and harsh chemicals to help preserve its beauty.
Some gemstones are commonly treated to enhance color or durability. Whenever known, this information is included in the product description.
Jewelry Care
To keep your jewelry looking its best:
- Store pieces separately to prevent scratching.
- Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or exercising.
- Avoid perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and household cleaners.
- Wipe gently with a soft jewelry cloth after wearing.
Malas
A mala is a strand of 108 prayer beads that was traditionally created for meditation, prayer, and intention setting—not as jewelry. The beads are used to count mantras or breaths during meditation, helping to cultivate mindfulness, presence, and focus.
Over time, malas have also become meaningful pieces that many people wear throughout the day. While some choose to use their mala exclusively for meditation, it has become widely accepted to wear one around the neck or wrist as gentle reminder to remain mindful or connected to a personal intention or the symbolic meaning of the gemstones.
Although a mala can also be worn as a wrap bracelet, whether it will comfortably wrap around your wrist—and how many times it wraps—depends on the size of your hand, your wrist measurement, and the size of the beads.
Every Pearl and Stone mala is individually handcrafted in my California studio using carefully selected natural gemstones and durable cord. Each bead is individually hand-knotted to create a beautiful drape while helping protect the gemstones from rubbing against one another. Every mala is made in small batches with attention to detail and is designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
For thousands of years, cultures around the world have associated gemstones with symbolic meanings, intentions, and spiritual traditions. Many people choose certain stones because they represent qualities such as courage, compassion, grounding, abundance, or inner peace.
While I enjoy sharing these traditional meanings and the stories behind the stones, they are offered as a source of inspiration and personal reflection. Gemstones are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or psychological condition, and their effects have not been scientifically proven.
Whether you are drawn to a gemstone for its color, symbolism, personal significance, or simply its natural beauty, my hope is that your jewelry serves as a meaningful reminder of the intentions and values that are important to you.
Most Pearl and Stone malas measure approximately 42–44 inches in length and are intentionally designed to be worn as necklaces.
Many customers also enjoy wearing their malas as wrap bracelets. Depending on the size of your hand, wrist, and the gemstone beads used, your mala may wrap approximately 5–6 times. Because every person is different, the fit and number of wraps will vary.
Yes. If your mala is just slightly snug and you're having difficulty making the final wrap, you can very gently stretch it by holding both ends and applying slow, even pressure.
Because each bead is individually hand-knotted, there is a slight amount of natural give between the knots. This small amount of flexibility is often enough to help the mala comfortably roll over your knuckles.
Please stretch only as much as necessary. Pulling too firmly or stretching too quickly can create visible gaps between the knots and the gemstones. A slow, gradual adjustment is all that's needed and will help preserve the beauty, structure, and longevity of your mala.
If your mala wraps comfortably but the final loop hangs a little loose, simply twist the last loop 1–3 times before rolling it over your hand. This creates a more secure, comfortable fit while maintaining the natural drape of the mala without placing unnecessary strain on the cord.
