DESIGN YOUR OWN PATTERNED MALA

Design Your Own Patterned Mala

Create a one-of-a-kind mala that’s uniquely yours. Select your favorite natural gemstones, cord material and color, guru bead, and optional charm to create a meaningful piece that reflects your personal style and intention.

Each Pearl & Stone mala is handcrafted to order using the materials you choose. Every bead is individually double knotted by hand, creating a beautiful drape while enhancing durability and helping protect the gemstones for years to come.

A Patterned Mala is handcrafted using two complementary gemstones—a Primary Gemstone and an Accent Gemstone—creating beautiful contrast, depth, and visual interest while showcasing the unique character of each stone. The primary gemstone remains the focal point of the design, while the accent gemstone adds balance and distinction, resulting in a truly personalized mala.

What is a mala?
A mala is a strand of 108 prayer beads that was traditionally created for meditation, prayer, and intention setting—not as jewelry. The beads are used to count mantras or breaths during meditation, helping to cultivate mindfulness, presence, and focus.
Over time, malas have also become meaningful pieces that many people wear throughout the day. While some choose to use their mala exclusively for meditation, it has become widely accepted to wear one around the neck or wrist as gentle reminder to remain mindful or connected to a personal intention or the symbolic meaning of the gemstones.
Although a mala can also be worn as a wrap bracelet, whether it will comfortably wrap around your wrist—and how many times it wraps—depends on the size of your hand, your wrist measurement, and the size of the beads.

Handcrafted Construction

Every mala is handcrafted using traditional knotting techniques.

• Each gemstone is individually double knotted by hand for flexibility, durability, and a beautiful natural drape.

• Silk malas are knotted using triple-strand premium 100% silk cord.

• Vegan malas are knotted using double-strand premium waxed poly cord.

This time-intensive construction helps reduce wear between gemstones and, should the cord ever become damaged, helps prevent beads from scattering.

Natural Gemstones

Each mala is handcrafted using genuine natural gemstones.

Because every stone is unique, variations in color, pattern, translucency, inclusions, and natural matrix should be expected. These beautiful differences are part of what makes every mala one of a kind.

Gemstones are approximately 8 mm round beads, though slight variations in size may occur due to the natural cutting and polishing process.

Photos represent the overall color and character of each gemstone but may not be the exact beads used in your mala.

Choosing Your Cord

Premium 100% Silk

• Soft, elegant drape

• Lightweight with a beautiful natural sheen

• Traditional choice for handcrafted malas

• Strong and durable for everyday wear

Silk is best kept away from water and excessive moisture to help preserve its natural strength and beauty.

Premium Vegan Waxed Poly

• Strong, durable, and water resistant

• Slightly more body and weight than silk

• Excellent for frequent daily wear

• Flexible, resilient, and designed for lasting durability

Both cord materials are exceptionally strong and create beautiful, long-lasting malas. The choice comes down to personal preference—whether you prefer the graceful drape of silk or the slightly firmer feel of waxed poly.

Choosing Your Guru Bead

The guru bead is the larger bead where the mala begins and ends. Traditionally, it represents a moment of reflection and serves as a reminder to pause, breathe, and return to your intention or practice. Choose the stone that best complements your design or resonates with you personally.

Hematite — Grounding • Balance • Stability

A smooth metallic gray stone associated with focus, strength, and staying centered.

Pyrite — Confidence • Abundance • Protection

A naturally golden gemstone often associated with motivation, prosperity, and positive energy.

Tiger’s Eye — Courage • Confidence • Clarity

A warm golden-brown gemstone traditionally associated with inner strength, discernment, and determination.

Choosing Your Charm

Add a meaningful finishing touch to your mala with an optional charm. Traditionally, charms serve as a personal symbol, representing an intention, belief, or source of inspiration. Choose the one that resonates most with you.

Lotus — Purity • Growth • New Beginnings

A timeless symbol of resilience and transformation, the lotus represents rising above life’s challenges to bloom with grace, wisdom, and inner peace.

Om (ॐ) — Harmony • Mindfulness • Unity

The sacred symbol of the universal sound, Om represents the connection of mind, body, and spirit. It is often associated with meditation, presence, and a sense of inner calm.

Care Instructions

To help preserve the beauty of your mala:

• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as certain natural gemstones may gradually fade over time.

• Remove your mala before swimming, bathing, exercising, or sleeping.

• Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and household chemicals.

• Store your mala in a dry place away from excessive moisture and heat.

• Handle your mala with care and avoid pulling or snagging the cord.

With proper care, your mala is designed to be enjoyed for many years.
